Antalya’s Hidden Paradise: Tilkiler Cave

Today, I want to share with you my amazing experience of visiting a hidden cave in Antalya, Turkey. Antalya is a beautiful city on the Mediterranean coast, famous for its beaches, historical sites, and natural wonders. But there is also a secret place that not many tourists know about: the Tilkiler Cave.

The Tilkiler Cave is located near the Oymapınar Dam, about 60 km from Antalya. It was discovered during the construction of the dam in the 1980s. The cave is about 7 km long and has a fascinating geological formation. It is made of conglomerate rocks, which are composed of different types of stones cemented together. The cave also has impressive stalactites and stalagmites, which are mineral deposits that hang from the ceiling or rise from the floor.

I visited the Tilkiler Cave with a local guide, who told me the story and the features of the cave. We entered the cave through a small opening and walked along a wooden platform. The cave was dark and humid, but also very cool and refreshing. The sound of water dripping from the rocks was soothing and relaxing. The guide pointed out the different shapes and colors of the stalactites and stalagmites, some of which looked like animals, plants, or human figures. He also explained that the cave is home to various species of bats, spiders, and insects.

The most exciting part of the visit was when we reached the end of the cave, where there was a small pool of water. The guide told me that the water level changes depending on the season and the rainfall. In spring, the pool can be deep enough to swim in. He also said that the water is very clean and pure, as it comes from the underground springs. He invited me to dip my feet in the water, which was very cold but also very refreshing. I felt a connection with nature and a sense of wonder.
